This is me about 6 years ago at a fair when I started out :). I have always had a passion for sewing since a very young age. As a child I remember borrowing a book from the library on bear making and I was fascinated from the start. I followed my interests through my education and did  A-level art onto Art college and then to Hudderfield university where I did Textile design, I was still unsure what I wanted to do with my life and it was not until I had my two beautiful children  that I rediscovered my love of craft.

Tilly a minature Mohair bear with one of my first felted hats.

I started making large bears from pattrens,. Very quickly I started designing my own patterns. With the cost of Mohair rising, my bears over time became smaller and I became more skilled, still bear making was turning into an expensive hobby so I looked at different ways of making my bears with out reducing the quality, thats when I started making my little blanket bears

My blanket bears were born from seeing a bear made from felt, but I wanted my bears to last through time so I tried making them out of vintage wool blankets, it worked really well, not only were my bears much cheaper to make and sell they were also recycled bears too :) they were only 7 inch tall so took up very little room.

After making blanket bears for a few years I had a little break from sewing bears and had a career change from a Childminder to Teaching Assistant in reception. Once I had settled in and found my feet I started to think about my sewing and fancied a slight change in direction. I had designed a rag doll awhile back and I had the idea stuck in my head of reducing the pattern and making minature rag doll, so I sat down one evening and a new pattern was created that would take me on my next journey of Bear making though so far I have not made a bear but Baildon Bears name has stuck so I will keep it :)
